How big is health care sector in USA?

Directory of general practitioners and more

Direct marketing messages can sometimes contain some important marketing information. I distilled out some numbers helping me to figure out how big the General Practitioners market is and how to reach the decision makers. There was this email telling that there are "in total 788,804 Licensed MDs in the USA".

Mediracer Oy is looking for a piece of this market. UK is the primary market on a short term. The US market is huge but the questions are how to enter and how to organize the distribution, training and telemedical mediracing support.

The occupational health sector could be an entry point. But let me tell more about the directory is "featuring the most complete contact information in many different areas of medicine sorted out by over a dozen different fields".

I look at the figures and start calculating the potential for Mediracer in USA. It's a highly industrialized country. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is to be found in many service related works as well. Think about all those millions working with computers from early sunrise to late in the evening.

"This week's special price = $395," promises the advertising. What more did i learn from the spam message? "US Pharmaceutical Company Executives List Names and email addresses of 47,000 employees in high-ranking positions. Hospitals in the US 23,000 Admins in more than 7,000 hospitals (at a price of $399 value)."

Dentists in the USA Virtually every dentist in the US with full contact details. American Chiropractors Listing 100k Chiropractors offices with full contact data including email, postal address, phone and fax.

The point of my blog is not to tell the exact number of the GP's and other health care professionals. The figures stimulated me to figure out how many units would be needed to service the US occupational health care and General Practitioners market.
