CTS Blogging

We discussed today the roles and objectives of CTS blogging in Oulu. A more specific plan has been outlined. We're going to specify a number of things:

YouTube
Photo Gallery (Flickr or some other)
Interviews
The road map of moving medical and health care inventions to practice
The role of players

Encouraging and rewarding innovation in healthcare has never been more important. We're blogging about issues that hopefully bring some new ideas to health care policy makers, strategic thinkers and the grass roots practitioners who deliver care.

Winning a Medical Futures Innovation Award enables the innovator to benefit from recognition amongst healthcare opinion leaders, gain credibility with the investor community and benefit from significant exposure in the press.

The Medical Futures Process informs, "Healthcare is the world's leading industry, now worth over £2 trillion. From penicillin to beta blockers, and hip replacements to coronary stents, bright ideas from medics have historically led to vast improvements in patient care - and brought significant commercial rewards."

Looking back in history, Medical Futures identified that many of the most successful innovations only came to fruition thanks to serendipitous interaction with a successful businessman.

Yet, many clinician ideas are ill-informed and far too early for industry or investment, hence the chance of successful fertilisation is slim.
